After looking at existing concepts and Sci-Fi games/films, we decided on using some of our favourite firearm references for colour and create schemes from them to get a feel for what colours we'd like to use in our weapons design, these colours could possibly rub off on our games environment and assets later on. We came to discover that various shades of beige, orange, blue and grey were re-occurring across alot of different Sci-Fi palettes and platforms. As the team mutually agreed that the use of orange and purples would be primary throughout some of the guns and creatures (Due to favourability and its relativity to heat and power) we tried picking out references that had similar colours. We looked at colour connotation wheels to get what certain colours mean:
Here are some palettes we create for the different guns, we're going to decide on one singular palette that we liked best and work in tandem with the chosen palette so all the guns feel like they're loosely part of a set or atleast of the same world. We liked the handgun colour scheme the best so by tweaking that singular palette and adding purple we came up with a solid scheme, some of the emissive panels on the guns shall change colour due to different ammunition:
